About Me

My name is Aidan Grimmett.
(Each additional two paragraphs is written each year to discern my mindset during that time)

I am a student in the biomedical and engineering stem program at Harrison Highschool.
When I was in middle school, the school counselors introduced us to the Cobb County Magnet Programs and the Harrison STEM Program. What made the Harrison STEM program stand out in my mind was that one of it's focuses was in biomedical fields. This was primarily because my grandpa was part of one of the cancer studies; additionally, biomedical sciences seemed interesting to me based off the descriptions of it I found at the time that detailed it's heavy biology base, in which I enjoy learning about the most.
My primary academic interests are in biological sciences, including cellular and ecological sciences.
I also have other interests that are non-academic including after school activities such as Karate, which I have done since I was 5, and Recreational Soccer. I also like to spend time with my family hiking and spending time in nature in general. I also have hobbies like reading, playing video games and making board games using the different components from ones I already have.
Sophomore
I continue my
interest in the Harrison STEM program in my sophomore fall semester for its unique learning opportunities of classes which focus on differing biomedical sciences which I have a continued fascination for in that I have enjoyed the practices in labs and content I learned in freshman year on these subjects and continue in curiosity about theses as well as for how it may help people in the process. Furthermore, it gives aid in the completion of tasks and gives opportunities that would be considered by colleges such as availability of participation in and aid in developing a science fair project as well as the construction of an e-portfolio.
I still do after school activities such as Karate, of which, as of my sophomore year, I am a purple belt with a black stripe as well as go to the Dungeons and Dragons club at Harrison Highschool. In addition, I continue to enjoy spending time with family, which includes my dogs, and hiking with them, yet these events have decreased to the influx of social events of friends. I have also been spending more time drawing which I used to only do occasional doodles, but now draw with more detail with a slight increase in occurrence, but I still primarily read and play video and board games more often than the latter.
Junior
As of being a Junior in Highschool, I intend to continue extracurricular activities such as Karate though also participate in service organizations from now and beyond graduation as I would directly benefit the community. I am currently unsure of what college I would prefer to go to, yet I do know that I would like to have an education that best educates and prepares me for work in veterinary medicine. Additionally, I currently believe that such college should include active participation in a large animal’s health. I also believe that I should begin in a less expensive college with a pre-vet program followed by veterinary program that is local such as Georgia or Auburn. Finally, while in college I would like to have a job that relates to veterinary science.
Senior
While being a Senior in Highschool, I have continued to have a desire to seek a career in veterinary medicine and therefore intend on applying to a college in which I can get a Bachelor’s degree with a pre-vet, animal sciences, or biology as a major depending on what is available at the college I am enrolled in. Furthermore, I would like to have a job or participate in a research opportunity relating to veterinary science while in my first four years of college. After attaining a masters and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, I intend to join a practice focusing on large animals. Meanwhile, I intend to continue my participation in Karate to ensure physical fitness as well as join service organizations so as to aid the community.
